STUDY OVERVIEW

Pain is a common problem for people living with multiple sclerosis. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy can improve pain severity, interference, and catastrophizing. These treatment benefits depend on consistent mindfulness practice, which can be hard to do. This study will evaluate what makes it easier or harder for people with MS to practice mindfulness during an 8-week telehealth mindfulness-based therapy program for chronic pain. The results of this study will be used to develop personalized smartphone reminders to support people with MS in sustaining a mindfulness practice.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?

  • Participants will attend 8 weekly mindfulness-based therapy group sessions. Each session will last about 2 hours and take place over Zoom.
  • Complete 20 minutes of mindfulness home practice, plus additional mindfulness practices between group sessions.
  • Complete 10 weeks of twice-daily mini surveys.
  • Complete two 30-45 minute online assessments.
  • Up to $80 total compensation provided.
